New KP Learn Access Requirements for Temporary Personnel Now in Effect
KP has implemented a new process that impacts how temporary, external, non-KP personnel —-contingent workers*, students and volunteers-— gain access to KP Learn. Previously, these workers could obtain a KP Learn account without a National User ID (NUID). This new Program-wide approach requires that external, non-KP personnel have a valid NUID in order to obtain a KP Learn account.
This change is required to support the KP Learn migration to Web Single Sign-On (WSSO) later this year.
What Is Changing?
- All NEW external non-KP personnel must provide a valid NUID when requesting a KP Learn account. All NUIDs submitted on the KP Learn New External Learner Account Request Form will be verified in the KP Identity Management (KPIM) system before a new KP Learn external learner account is created. Click here to submit your request...
- Beginning July 1, 2012: All external (contingent workers, students and volunteers) learners must use their NUID as their KP Learn login username. All KP Learn external accounts whose username is not a valid NUID are now DISABLED.
- Later in 2012: KP Learn is moving to Web Single Sign-On (WSSO). Users will no longer have a KP Learn specific password. Through WSSO, a single sign on will gain the user entry to KP Learn and many other applications across KP, including My HR.
Attention Current External (contingent workers, students and volunteers) Learners
Effective July 1, 2012, you must use your NUID to access KP Learn.
- If you currently log into KP Learn using your NUID, you need do nothing! Your access will not change. Continue to log in using your NUID and password.
- If your KP Learn username consisted of your NUID and a suffix identifying your region, function or contractor status (e.g. Z999999volunteer), your username was AUTOMATICALLY converted to only your NUID (e.g. Z999999volunteer became Z999999) on June 30, 2012. Your password remains unchanged. Beginning July 1, 2012, please only use your NUID as your KP Learn login username.
- If your current KP Learn username neither is an NUID (e.g. Z000000), nor contains an NUID (e.g. Z000000c), your account was disabled on June 30.

Attention Managers: How to Help Your Contingent Staff Gain Access to KP Learn
First you will need to request an NUID for your temporary worker/student. Go to KP Identity Manager and follow their "Create Contingent Worker (CW) Identity" process to obtain an NUID for your contingent worker, student or volunteer. You will need the worker's Social Security Number or their employee number from their company to submit the request. Then submit the KP Learn New External Learner Account Request Form.
